What's Eating Your Roof?

Do you have black streaks, moss, or algae growing on your roof? You do not need to replace your roof. We can safely remove these damage-causing microorganisms, restore your roof’s original appearance, and add years of service life to your shingles. We use a low pressure soft wash method of roof cleaning that utilizes antifungal agents to kill the algae and bacterial growth and prevents it from coming back.

You may have noticed that many roofs in the Northeast Ohio region have developed black streaks. These streaks are the result of cyanobacteria called Gloeocapsa Magma. These bacteria are eating our roofs. The dark streaks are the result of an Ultra Violet resistant film secreted by the bacteria to protect them from the sunlight. We can eradicate the bacteria and the streaks in a short amount of time, without damaging the granules of your shingles. Using the same methods, we can also remove moss and algae growths. Our methods are safe on most types of roofing, including asphalt shingles (both three tab and architectural), fiberglass shingles, slate, simulated slate, cement shingles, and asbestos shingles.
